Start-up secures Patriot Express loan to expand consignment business

Miss Maddie's Children's NookDAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 30, 2011) – Madelyn Early identified a need and filled it, and at the same time realized the dream of owning and running her own business. Miss Maddie’s Children’s Nook, LLC opened for business February 1, 2011 in New Smyrna Beach, providing affordable resale items, specifically children’s clothing, accessories and gifts. Sales during the first month were encouraging, however additional working capital was needed.

Having previously worked with the Small Business Development Center at Daytona State College to prepare for starting a business, Early turned to them once again for counseling.

“As Maddie’s husband is a military veteran they were able to apply for the Patriot Express Loan,” explained Certified Business Analyst and SBDC Manager, Doris Bernal. “Securing a Patriot Express loan provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide the working capital needed to ensure that theirs is a successful business venture.”

A member of the Canal Street Historic District, Miss Maddie’s Children’s Nook, LLC offers retail children’s clothing, accessories and gifts, including toys equipment and supplies from infants to size 6. Items are cleaned and inspected before being offered for sale. They also offer a rental program of cribs with mattresses, strollers, high chairs, gates, etc. Open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Miss Maddie’s Children’s Nook, LLC is located at 202 Julia Street, New Smyrna Beach.
